She was an active member of Ackerman Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director, senior adult leader and Women's Missionary Union leader. Mrs. Graves was a strong Christian who encouraged others.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Elvis Lamar Graves; daughters, Martha Carol Schiffman, Nell Bowman, Kay McBee; son, Benny Graves; brother, Frank Benson. He was a disabled electrician.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kent was the son of H.A. Griffin, Sr. &amp;amp; Mary Perrigin Griffin. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Edgar and H.A. She was born August 16, 1940, in Ackerman, Miss., the only daughter of Aaron and Alma Thompson. Growing up as a farm girl, Barbara Sue loved animals, nature and music, and throughout her life, she was the compassionate caretaker of countless animals, an accomplished pianist and an exceptional gardener. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;In 1958 she graduated from Ackerman High School and went on to attend Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., where she majored in early childhood education and was in the Phi Mu Sorority. After graduating from Millsaps in 1962, Barbara Sue moved to Natchez, Miss., to become an elementary grade school teacher. While working and living in Natchez, Barbara Sue met the love of her life, Donald Clifford Michel. Barbara Sue married Donald June 9, 1963, in Jackson, Miss., and soon after had three children, Michael, Lisa and Samantha. Over the next 34 years, she and her husband, Donald, raised their children; lived in Mississippi, South Carolina and Brandon, Fla.; socialized with their many friends; and traveled and explored the country. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;She was predeceased by her mother, father, and brother, Wilmer, and her husband, Donald, who passed in 1997. She leaves behind her three children and six grandchildren, Kaleigh and Madison Carpenter, Olivia and Jillian Devine, and Zachary and Emily Michel. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;Barbara Sue will always be remembered as a wonderful and loving daughter, friend, wife, mother and grandmother. She will forever be missed by her family and friends. Burial followed in the Enon Cemetery in Ackerman.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A native of Choctaw County, Miss Moss was a retired schoolteacher and a member of South Union Methodist Church near Ackerman. Visitation will be held today from 4:00 - 8:00pm at Baldwin Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 2010 at 2pm in the funeral home chapel with interment at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. (Brenda was a member of the Ackerman High School Class of 1959.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mrs. Wallace retired from the MS Highway Patrol in 1991 after 32 years. The next day she went to work for the MS State Troopers Assn., where she worked until her illness. She enjoyed 51 years associated with the State Troopers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. She enjoyed flowers and tending her flower gardens.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She leaves behind her husband, Martin H. She was born Nov. 17, 1918, in Ackerman to Nannie Lee Weaver Burney and Richard Valentino Burney. She graduated from Ackerman High School and Blue Mountain College. She was a third grade schoolteacher for the West Point Public School System for 28 years. She was a charter member the Clay County Unit of the Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi. She was also active in the American Cancer Society’s “Reach to Recovery Program” for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for more than 40 years and an active worker with the young people of the church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and growing Day Lillies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lewis Martin Randle of Blue Mountain, on Aug. 15, 2007.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with the Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. After graduating from Ackerman High School (MS) in '54, she worked as secretary in Memphis for about two years. She moved to Dallas and became an airline stewardess for American Airlines. She continued to fly for them after she and Howard were married. Paul Cain will officiate.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 4 at Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman and was held from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Mrs. Henderson, 64, died on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at her home near Weir. A Choctaw County native, she was a homemaker and a member of McCurtains Creek Baptist Church. He grew up in Ackerman, where he attended school. He had been a resident of Greenville since 1979. He was awarded a scholarship and attended East Mississippi Junior College, where he played football. He later attended Mississippi State University. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. He was a retired mechanic and had served in the United States Army during Operation Desert Storm.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Gatlin is survived by 2 sons, Terry H. He was 44 and lived in New York City.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The cause was kidney failure, said his brother, Charles.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Fulton made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1981 and conducted more than 20 operas for the company, most recently "Tosca" in Central Park in June. He worked frequently in Europe, conducting the Orchestre National de France and the orchestras of the Paris Opera and other houses in France and Germany.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He was also an associate conductor of the San Francisco Opera, the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the Ravinia Festival, the Opera Company of Boston and EMI Records.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition to his brother, of Gainesville, Fla., he is survived by his father, Joseph, of Fairfield Bay, Ark.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Thomas Fulton Memorial&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Published: Wednesday, October 19, 1994&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;The New York Times&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A memorial service for the conductor Thomas Fulton is to be held tomorrow at 5 P.M. at the 92d Street Y on Lexington Avenue. During her school days at Noxapater, she and her sister played on the basketball team. She graduated from East Central Junior College and Mississippi Southern, with a degree in elementary education, then taught in Natchez, Noxapater and, for many years, in Ackerman.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She was an avid Mississippi State Bulldog fan and loved traveling to games wearing her maroon and white. In her later years, she never missed a State game on TV. She was known for her beautiful yard, especially the caladiums of every color and variety. Friends and family enjoyed her excellent cooking. With a warm smile and a gentle voice, she was a generous and thoughtful giver.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Her parents, Ira and Algy Kirkpatrick, and two brothers, Joe Davis and Jimmy Kirkpatrick, preceded her in death.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Myron; daughter, Myra Ann Lewis and grandson, Adam of Ridgeland; brother, Ira Lee Kirkpatrick, Jr. and his wife, Lucille, of Noxapater; sister, Ann Fulton of Brandon; sister-in-law, Edna Kirkpatrick of New Orleans; niece, Lillian (Joe) Mirando of Ponchatoula, LA; nephews, Ira (Sharon) Kirkpatrick of McDonough, GA, and Jim Fulton of Brandon; great-nieces, Lucy Mirando and Lisa (Jantsen) Haney; great-nephew, Aaron Kirkpatrick; and many more relatives and friends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Visitation is at Porter Funeral Home, Louisville, today at 5-8 pm. Mr. Griffin died in his home at Riggs Manor, Raymond, Mississippi from heart failure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A memorial service will be held at noon Friday at Raymond United Methodist Church with burial in the Raymond Cemetery. Visitation is 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 Friday at Raymond United Methodist Church.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Griffin was born and raised in Tunica County. He graduated from Delta State with graduate education from The University of Mississippi, Mississippi Southern, Mississippi State, University of Florida, Emory University and Colorado Mountain College. Mr. Griffin taught school for 41 years including 22 years at Hinds Junior College retiring in 1984 as Chairman of the Physical Science Department. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;He also was Principal of the High School in Ackerman; Past President of Choctaw County Teacher's Association;&lt;/span&gt; Past Chairman of 2-year College Chemistry Conference; and Past President of Hinds Junior College Credit Union. In his life he was: an Eagle Scout; a high school basketball coach; high school football assistant coach; an avid genealogist; and a teacher whose true joy was inspiring students to learn and to seeing his many students succeed in life. He was a member of Raymond United Methodist Church, serving as a Steward.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He will be remembered by his family as a cherished husband; loving father; devoted grandfather and great-grandfather; and devout Christian. He will be missed not only by his family, but also his many friends at Riggs Manor.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by wives Lena Rose Bassi Griffin and Carolyn Dunlap Griffin and his parents Willie and Norma Griffin, Tunica County. He was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Newton to Emma  Jones and Walter Kitchens. He was a retired supervisor for Bryan Foods with 37  years of service. A member of West End Baptist Church, he was a U.S. Air Force  veteran of the Korean War. He married Dorothy Lee Robertson Kitchens on Jan. 13,  1956, in Winston County.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvert  Funeral Home Chapel. His nephew, Dr. David Hamilton, will officiate, and Bro.  Mike Mathena and Bro. Curtis Bray will assist. He and his wife, Martha Jo Cutts Phillips had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. They were natives of Choctaw County, MS and lived several years in Louisville, MS prior to moving to Gulfport.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He is survived by his wife, Martha Jo Cutts Phillips of Gulfport; and an extended family, one son, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Phillips chose to gift his body to medical research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was a longtime resident of Birmingham, formerly from Ackerman, Mississippi. She graduated from Ackerman High School in 1964 and attended Mississippi State University. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Travis Austin and Hazel Burton Austin; a brother, W.C. Austin; and her sisters, Trudy Zilinskas, Geneva Harris and Nell Atkinson.&lt;br /&gt;Mrs. Fiore is survived by her loving husband, Jerome (Jerry) Anthony Fiore, Sr.; step-children, Jerome Anthony (Tony) (Tammy), Donna Fiore and Angela Fiore Woods (Ian); brother, O'Keefe (Keith) Austin (Pearl); sister, Topsey Austin King; nieces, Sandra Cleary (Ben), and Sheila Cash (Herb); nephews, Bobby Atkinson (Janice), Garrett Erwin (Janice), and Jason Zilinskas (Allison); grandsons, Mathew Woods, Zachary Woods and Jerome Anthony Fiore III; and granddaughters, Emma Fiore, Ruth Fiore and Sara Fiore.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mrs. Fiore was a very positive person with outstanding love for everyone. She never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. After moving to Birmingham in 1967, she began her banking career with Birmingham Trust National Bank (now Wachovia Bank). In 1984, she went to work for First Alabama Bank (now Regions Bank) where she worked as executive assistant to the chairman and CEO. Her banking career ended in 2001 after a 30-year career.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She was active in many community organizations and enjoyed volunteering on the Oncology Floor at St. Vincent's Hospital and at St. Peter's Church. She served as a member on the United Way Visiting Allocation Team and the Alabama Oncology Foundation. She was Vice President/President elect of the Birmingham Chapter of the Executive Women's International upon her retirement. She was also President of the CanSurvive GYN Cancer Support Group.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mrs. Fiore also received the American Cancer Society's Life Inspiration Award for her extraordinary contributions of hope, courage and strength to others.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The family would like to send a special thank you to Sister Veronica Ryan of St. Peter's Church for her friendship and unconditional love throughout Mrs. Fiore's illness. She was a true friend. The family would also like to thank J. She graduated from Ackerman High School and went on to recieve her R.N. degree in nursing from University of Tennessee School of Medicine. She served in World War II in the Army Nurse Corps as a 1st lieutenant, serving from 1943-1946. She then recieved her B.S. in nursing at Vanderbilt University in 1950 and went to work at TVA as supervisor of nursing. She was a retired registered nurse in Chattanooga. After retirement, she was active in local cultural organizations in Chattanooga. She was also active in organized activities at her church, Brainerd Presbyterian, working with church office staff for seven years in charitable activities. Later, she became a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oxford, where she was active in womens groups and served as voluntary church historian. She enjoyed attending church and Sunday School.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mark Catledge Jackson and the Rev. John Semmes officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemtery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Survivors include a brother, Hervey B. Funeral services are 11a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS with burial in the Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS is handling the arrangements. Banks was a 1928 graduate of Ackerman High School.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Weaver was born in Ackerman, MS on August 6, 1908. He was an independent insurance agent for over 68 years until the sale of his family business in 1997. He also operated the first funeral home and ambulance service in Choctaw County until 1954. He was the only surviving Charter Member of the Ackerman Rotary Club founded in 1945. He served as club president and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Ackerman Methodist Church where he had served as Sunday School Teacher for the Men's Bible Class and High School Class and chairman of the Administrative Board, Finance Committee, and Board of Trustees. Weaver and one son, Hugh Banks Weaver, both of Ackerman, MS. Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy Jefferson Weaver and Mary Banks Weaver, and a brother Joe Garland Weaver. She graduated from the Mississippi University for Women, Columbus, Miss., in 1957, with a bachelor's degree in music education.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;She was a homemaker and following her husband's retirement, they worked in real estate together. &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;She was a member of Blue Ridge Summit (Pa.) Garden Club and Waynesboro Country Club.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;She is survived by her husband of more than 48 years, William N. "Nick" Brevard. &lt;br /&gt;Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. John Ile will officiate. He served 21 years in the US Navy, most of the time on the USS Ranger before retiring.  After retiring he launched the Navy Jr. ROTC program at Neshoba Central High along with Commander Rowell.  Timmy was loved by all who knew him. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ackerman Presbyterian Church with burial in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman. Mr. Irving was a graduate of Ackerman High School, Holmes Community College, and Mississippi State University. He began his career as a teacher and a football coach. Prentiss coached at McAdams, Sturgis, Shelby, and Magee, Mississippi before retuning to his hometown to coach at Ackerman High School. After he finished coaching Mr. Irving worked at the local United States Post Office until retirement. He was a member of the Ackerman Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He served on the Choctaw County Board of Education and held a membership in the Rotary Club, Lions Club, V.F.W, and American Legion. He is a graduate of Delta State College, where he was an All-American Halfback in football. Wood, a staff accountant at PharmaPac in Dekalb, MS, died Friday, October, 28, 2005 at Regency Hospital in Meridian, MS of complications from cystic fibrosis after a hospitalization of nearly twelve weeks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Valarie, 29, was born June 6, 1976, in Biloxi, MS, moved to Ackerman when she was 3, and moved to Meridian four years ago. She previously worked at Peavey in Meridian, BancorpSouth in Louisville, and while in college an immediately afterwards, at Stage and Factory Connections in Starkville. She was a 1994 honor graduate of Ackerman High School, a member of the AHS Marching Band, and among her and awards and honors, she was elected to the AHS Hall of Fame. Valarie graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Banking and Finance.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Valaries hobbies included traveling, music and watching movies. Valarie was a Christian and a member of Concord Baptist Church in Ackerman.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Services were held Monday October 31, 2005 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel and burial in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Valarie is survived by her parents, Billy and Peggy Wood of Ackerman, her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Jason Wooten of Gulf Shores, AL; her niece, Madeline Olivia Wooten of Gulf Shores, AL, her fiancé, Paul Clark, her grandmother, Latriece Simmons Wade of Soso, MS, several very loving uncles, aunts and cousins and a host of relatives and friends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, W.F. He was on duty as Chief of Police for the Town of French Camp at the time of his death. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Lakewood Funeral Home with visitation from 3-6 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Monday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Melton was born in Choctaw County Mississippi on November 4, 1917. He graduated from Ackerman High School and Milsaps College.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He joined the army and served as a Master Sargent with the Airborne Engineers in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a hydraulics engineer with the Waterways Experiment Station/US Corp of Engineers where he retired with over 35 years of service.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Melton was a charter member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton. He later helped form Cornerstone Church in Pearl. He was an active member of Cornerstone and for many years he coordinated food collection for the Fathers Close, a ministry of the church.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Melton is preceded by his wife of 61 years, Frances Melton. He was a member of the Union Labors Local 252, a graduate of &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Mississippi&lt;/st1:placename&gt;  &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;State&lt;/st1:placetype&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;University&lt;/st1:placetype&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt;, and a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;    &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;He was preceded in death by his parents Edsel and Jolene Ray Burney, Grandparents, Sam E. and Vera Ray and W. L. and Mayme Burney, all of Ackerman.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;He is survived by: his wife, Carol Johnson Burney, of Oak Harbor, Washington; daughters Ashley Cecelia Marcel, Steffen Jolene Burney, both of Olympia,Washington, and Tanya Nicole Manganello of Traverse City, Michigan; three sisters, Sandy Burney Vance of Quilcene, Washington, Julie Burney Brooks of Clarksdale, Mississippi and Lisa Burney Gilliland of Mathiston, Mississippi.; and two granddaughters, Alieyah Jordon and Alexis Marcel of Olympia, Washington.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;A memorial service will be held in Doug's memory Friday November 28 at 5:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Ackerman, where Doug remained a member throughout his life. Rev. Buddy Smith will officiate. Visitation was held Monday, May 19, 2003, from 5-7 pm at Jefferson Memorial Trussville Chapel.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;Mrs. Zininskas of Center Point, AL, died May 16, 2003, at her residence of an apparent heart attack. Interment was held in &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Concord&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Baptist&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt;  &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;Church&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;Cemetery&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt;. Ward, 87, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at the Calhoun County Nursing Home in &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Calhoun&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;City&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt;. He was born September 28, 1913, in &lt;st1:city st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;Louisville&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:City&gt;. He was a 1939 graduate of &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Delta&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;State&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;Teachers College&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt; and a 1950 graduate of the &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;University&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;  of &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Mississippi&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt;, where he received a master of science degree in school administration. He was a teacher from 1939-1944, then served as principal for &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Drew&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;High School&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt;, &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Walnut&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;School&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;, &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Bruce&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;High School&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt;, &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Lambert&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;High School&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;, &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Ackerman&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;High School&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;, &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Marks&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;High School&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt; and &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Quitman&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;County&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;  &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;High School&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt;. For two years he served as a hospital administrator in Ackerman. From 1976-1983 he held the office of superintendent of education for the Quitman County School System. From 1976-1987 he served on the board of Trustees for &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Northwest&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Mississippi&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt;  &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;Community College&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt;, where he was chairman of the board from 1981-1985. He also was a board member of &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Coahoma&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Mississippi&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;Community   College&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt;. He was a member of &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;First&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt; &lt;st1:placename st="on"&gt;Baptist&lt;/st1:PlaceName&gt;  &lt;st1:placetype st="on"&gt;Church&lt;/st1:PlaceType&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt; in Marks, where he was a lifetime deacon and former Sunday School teacher. He was a Mason, and a member of Rotary International, Mississippi Association of School Administrators, Mississippi Association of School Superintendents, National Educators Association and his educational fraternity, Red Red Rose.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Marks with Rev. Laurie Jones and David Meadors officiciating.
