John R. Taylor

John R. Taylor, 61, a Conservation Officer with the Mississippi Department Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, died Wednesday November 25, 2009, at his residence near Ackerman, MS.

Visitation was held Friday November 27, 2009, from 3 PM until 7 PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Funeral services are 1 PM today at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS with burial in the Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Taylor was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the US Air Force. He managed the wildlife management area in Choctaw County, MS. Mr. Taylor attended Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS.

Survivors include: wife, Diane Taylor of Ackerman, MS; mother, Inez Taylor of Ackerman, MS; son, Chance Taylor of Ackerman, MS; daughters, Kerri Whittington of Ackerman, MS and Leigh Thomas of Ackerman, MS; brother, Sedgie Taylor of Ackerman, MS; sisters, Barbara Taylor of Brandon, MS and Katherine Wood of Starkville, MS; and two grandchildren, Whitleigh Myers and Chancey Whittington, both of Ackerman, MS.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Whitney Layne Taylor.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family request memorial donations to Enon Church Youth Fund and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

My classmate and friend. Being 'Jolliest Juniors'in the 1965 yearbook and with you was so much fun. You signed my yearbook by our photo on the diving board over Mrs. Eubanks pond, "Remember this! Johnny". Those were great times at good ole AHS. You were second alternate for "Most Handsome" that year also and rightfully so.....you were tall and handsome. Many years have gone by, I moved to Texas, we had separate lives, but, I never forgot you and what a great person you were. How you will be missed by all.
